The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) is planning to open a new exhibition centre for food products from Portuguese-speaking Countries in Guangzhou, in China’s Guangdong province, local newspaper Jornal Tribuna de Macau reported last week.
Glória Batalha Ung, IPIM’s Executive Director, told the newspaper the institute already has such a centre in Fuzhou, in Fujian province, and now plans to open another; in Guangzhou.
“Our plan is that the whole of China can learn more about products from Portuguese-speaking Countries,” Ms Ung said in an interview.
IPIM currently has five representative offices in Mainland China, namely in the provinces of Fujian, Guangdong, Sichuan, in Liaoning and in Zhejiang, Ms Ung said. She added the institute is also planning to open two other offices, one in the Guangzhou area as described, and another in Wuhan, in Hebei province.
IPIM also plans to set up a representative office in Lisbon, Portugal, and one in São Paulo, Brazil, Ms Ung noted. She said she hoped both offices could be established this year.
