Alentejo pork company wants to export to 80 countries

Maporal pork production unit, in Reguengos de Monsaraz (Évora), already exports to 25 markets, but wants to reach 80 and increase the annual turnover from 45 to 120 million euros in 2024, said Nuno Correia, administrator and shareholder of the company.

With 25 countries in the export portfolio, in which China is assumed as the major destination of meat from Maporal, the company wants to reach 80 countries.

With a daily capacity to slaughter 3,000 animals, Maporal is the largest pork production unit in Portugal and one of the most modern in Europe, according to information from the company.

Nuno Correia explained to Lusa that, with 24 million euros already invested in the Alentejo unit, there is a slaughter line with 45 processing lines and a slaughterhouse, which was renovated.
