Chinese Ambassador to Portugal was received by the Mayor of Guimarães

At the afternoon of the 23rd of February, Domingos Bragança, Mayor of Guimarães, met with the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Portugal, Zhao Bentang, with the Secretary General of the Luso-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Bernardo Mendia, and with the Secretary General of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Portugal – Hong Kong, Carlos Torres, with the aim of promoting economic and cultural cooperation between Guimarães and China.

Zhao Bentang, Chinese Ambassador to Portugal, expressed China’s interest in cooperation with Guimarães regarding biomedicine and other emerging areas and indicated that Guimarães had been chosen as a pilot city for climate neutrality by the European Union.

“We want to strengthen trade relations between China and Guimarães, making bilateral agreements,” said the ambassador, noting that this cooperation will have full institutional support from the Chinese Embassy in Portugal.
