Brazilian exports of crude oil to China more than tripled in April, according to figures released by China’s General Administration of Customs over the weekend.
China bought 1.49 million metric tonnes of crude oil from Brazil in April, up by 267.5 percent in year-on-year terms. Brazil was the eighth biggest supplier of crude oil to China in April with a share of 4.9 percent.
In April, China’s crude oil imports from Angola decreased by 29.9 percent year-on-year to 2.86 million tonnes. The African country also dropped in the list of the biggest crude oil suppliers to China. It was ranked fourth in April, with a market share of 9.4 percent, down from the second spot it held in March.
In the first four months of 2015, China bought 3.76 million tonnes of crude from Brazil, up by 68.2 percent compared with the one year before, while the imports from Angola totalled 12.72 million tonnes, down by 13.7 percent.
China imported 110.63 million tonnes of oil during the first four months of 2015, a year-on-year increase of 7.8 percent, with Saudi Arabia being its biggest supplier.
