The Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) recently received a delegation from the Changping District People’s Government in Beijing, China, accompanied by representatives of the Europe China Joint Innovation Center (EUCJIC), to learn about the region’s innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem.

During the visit, the delegation learned about the work carried out by IPN to support entrepreneurship, technological innovation and closer links between scientific knowledge and the market.

The session was attended by Raquel Veiga, a member of the Go Coimbra Board of Directors, and Jorge Pimenta, Innovation Director at IPN, who presented Coimbra’s innovation ecosystem and the role of local organisations in supporting the development of companies and innovation projects.

The programme also included presentations by three IPN start-ups – FiberSight, Stratio and INEYE Therapeutics – which introduced their projects, areas of activity and plans to expand into the Chinese market. The presentations also helped identify potential opportunities for collaboration, particularly through partnerships, innovation resources and financing mechanisms.

The meeting enabled an exchange of experiences between the innovation ecosystems of Coimbra and Changping, helping to bring companies and organisations from the two regions closer together and explore future opportunities for international co-operation.
