The Bahia Mineral Research Company (CBPM) presented Bahia’s mining potential during the 2nd Brazil-China Mining Investment Forum, recently held in Beijing. The event is part of the Brazil-China International Mission 2026, organised by the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MNE).

The President of CBPM, Henrique Carballal, and Vice-President Carlos Borel were part of the Brazilian delegation. During the forum, Carballal presented the company’s work to promote responsible mining, attract investment and add value to Bahia’s mineral resources.

According to the State Secretariat of Economic Development (SDE), Bahia produces 47 of the 93 mineral substances produced in Brazil and is the country’s third-largest mineral producer. Investments planned for mining and logistics between 2026 and 2030 exceed 56 billion reais, according to the Brazilian Mining Institute (IBRAM).

The CBPM presented projects at different stages of development and opportunities in areas with potential for rare earths, nickel, vanadium, graphite, copper, cobalt, phosphate and high-purity silica, among other minerals.

Carballal stressed that the company aims to attract investment, technology and partners to expand mineral exploration, develop new projects and promote the integration of the production chain, with processing and industrialisation in Bahia. The objective is to add value to mineral resources and create opportunities for the local population.
