The wife of the President of the Republic of Mozambique, Gueta Selemane Chapo, recently announced in Maputo the implementation of the “African Mothers' New Farm” project. Promoted by the Women's Federation Hunan Province, the initiative aims to support the economic empowerment of Mozambican women through agriculture, professional training, technology transfer and entrepreneurship.

The project includes training activities in the cultivation, livestock farming, handicrafts, trade and electronics. According to Gueta Chapo, the initiative should transform lands, knowledge and productive capacity into employment and business opportunities for women. The First Lady also highlighted the role of women farmers in food security and family livelihoods, advocating for the increased productivity and the adoption of modern agricultural techniques.

The official explained that the project is a result of a commitment made during her recent visit to China. Mozambique intends to use the co-operation to introduce Chinese agricultural technologies, including modern seeding equipment, and develop sustainable and replicable initiatives with a direct impact on local communities.

Gueta Chapo also announced the “China-Mozambique Children Hand in Hand” project, aimed at promoting exchanges between children and schools in the two countries. The initiative provides for the sharing of essential goods, health supplies, school materials and sports equipment. The Chinese delegation was invited to return to Mozambique in two months to follow up on the implementation of the projects.
