Angola and China are negotiating joint production projects in the radio, television and audiovisual sectors, with the aim of creating new content and deepening cultural ties between the two countries. The announcement was made recently in Beijing by Angola’s Secretary of State for Social Communication, Nuno Caldas Albino, during the 7th Forum on China-Africa Media Co-operation.

According to the official, around 50 Angolan media professionals have already taken part in training programmes in China. The initiatives have helped improve their professional skills and deepen their knowledge of China.

Audiovisual co-operation between China and African countries has expanded to cover content sharing, professional training, technological modernisation and co-production. More than 80 Chinese audiovisual productions have been shown in various African countries, while more than 80 programmes from 29 African countries have been made available on major Chinese platforms. The two sides have also jointly produced nearly 50 audiovisual programmes.

Grégoire Ndjaka, Director General of the African Union of Broadcasting, also attended the meeting and said that Chinese technological equipment had helped to modernise radio and television infrastructure in Africa. He called for a more balanced circulation of content, experiences and perspectives between the two sides.
