Brazil and China are discussing an increase in direct flights between the two countries, as well as stronger co-operation in the training of pilots and crew members and the exchange of technologies for the aviation sector.

On 25 August, Brazil’s Minister of Ports and Airports, Tomé Franca, met in Beijing with representatives of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), the authority responsible for regulating civil aviation in the country.

Brazil and China currently have four direct flights per week between the two countries, operated by Air China. According to the Ministry of Ports and Airports, the minister proposed carrying out studies to assess the possibility of increasing the frequency of air links between the two countries.

The training of aviation professionals was also among the issues discussed. China currently has an aviation academy with more than 500 aircraft used for training.

The two sides also discussed strengthening co-operation between Brazilian and Chinese aviation professionals, including the exchange of knowledge and experience in the training of pilots and crew members.
