Trade between China, Portuguese-speaking Countries tops US$156.091 bln in January-August 2024

Trade in merchandise between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries reached US$156.091 billion in the period from January to August 2024. It represented a 10.03 percent increase year-on-year, according to data from China Customs. Portuguese-speaking Countries sold goods worth US$97.612 billion to China in the first eight months of 2024 – an increase of 4.95 percent year-on-year. The value of China’s merchandise exports to those countries reached US$58.479 billion in the same period, up 19.71 percent year-on-year.


The total value of merchandise traded in August between the parties topped US$24.004 billion, an increase of 8.87 percent from the prior-year period. The value of China’s merchandise imports from Portuguese-speaking Countries reached US$14.831 billion, down 2.83 percent year-to-year, according to Chinese official data. China sold goods to those countries worth US$9.173 billion in August, an increase of 35.17 percent compared with the previous year.
