Trade in merchandise between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries reached US$174.184 billion in the period from January to September 2024. It represented a 7.84 percent increase year-on-year, according to data from China Customs. Portuguese-speaking Countries sold goods worth US$109.126 billion to China in the first nine months of 2024 – an increase of 2.62 percent year-on-year. The value of China’s merchandise exports to those countries reached US$65.058 billion in the same period, up 17.91 percent year-on-year.
The total value of merchandise traded in September between the parties topped US$18.163 billion, a decrease of 7.87 percent from the prior-year period. The value of China’s merchandise imports from Portuguese-speaking Countries reached US$115.79 billion, down 13.3 percent year-to-year, according to Chinese official data. China sold goods to those countries worth US$6.584 billion in September, an increase of 3.54 percent compared with the previous year.
