Somave Agroindustrial in Cidade Gaúcha, Paraná, will begin shipping its first shipment of chicken cuts to China by the end of September.
China will become one of the more than 30 international destinations for the poultry produced by the Cidade Gaúcha unit, which already exports chicken meat to markets with specific consumption requirements, such as South Africa, Mexico, Canada, Peru, Chile and the Philippines.
According to Olavo Lucena, a businessman at Somave, entering the Chinese market will not only boost the regional economy by creating new jobs, but also result in more investment in equipment and transportation and an increase in the production and supply of food in the domestic market.
In addition to Somave, other meatpacking plants such as Astra, Levo Alimentos, Avenorte, Dip Frangos, Jaguafrangos, Cotriguaçu and JBS/Seara have also received authorization to export meat to China between 2023 and 2024.
