The Angolan Ministry of Public Works, Urbanism and Housing has signed a memorandum of understanding with the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) to build the first motorway that will connect the south and north of Angola to neighboring countries such as Namibia and Zambia.

The Soyo/Santa Clara motorway will be 1,400 kilometers long, and the necessary studies and projects are currently being drawn up.

The project comes after the Minister of Public Works, Carlos dos Santos, met with the CRBC business group in Macau last June. The meeting aimed to agree on principles for formal discussions and the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the parties, with a view to securing investment and projects for the construction of the motorway in question.
