First Metro train that will serve Congonhas Airport arrived in Brazil

Made in China, the first train on Line 17 - Gold of the São Paulo metro, which will serve Congonhas airport, arrived at the Port of Santos, on the coast of São Paulo, on the afternoon of June 29th.


Currently, the composition is going through customs clearance procedures before being transported to the capital. At Pátio Água Espraiada, the train will be assembled and undergo rigorous safety tests before starting operation. According to São Paulo Metro, the service will open in 2026, moving approximately 100 thousand passengers per day.


The train's sea journey began on May 15, with boarding at the Port of Zhangjiagang, in the Shanghai region. This train is part of a batch of 14 units ordered from the Chinese manufacturer BYD. The second unit is scheduled to arrive in Brazil later this year, and the others will be delivered by 2025, according to the established schedule.
