Following the announcement of the expansion of Chinese heavy machinery and vehicle manufacturer XCMG in Pouso Alegre, Brazil, Saic Motor has confirmed that its first factory in Latin America will be located in Minas Gerais. Saic is one of the main suppliers of engines and parts to XCMG.

The company's investment was confirmed after the official expansion of the XCMG factory, with an investment of R$ 270 million and the creation of 465 direct jobs. Saic Motor's investment figures are yet to be defined, but the factory's installation work is scheduled for mid-2024.

Saic is one of China's big four state-owned vehicle manufacturers, but until now had no facilities in South America: the plant in Minas will be the first on the continent.
