An electricity distribution system being built in Angola by Power Construction Corp. of China is expected to supply over 300,000 households and benefit over 2.5 million people in Angolan capital Luanda, Xinhua reports.
The Chinese state-run news agency says the contractor turned over last week the final substation forming part of the US$675 million system built in Luanda and the surrounding province of Bengo.
The report quotes Angolan Minister of Energy and Water João Borges as saying at the turnover ceremony that the project, which is part of the Angolan National Development Plan, will create jobs and prompt development.
The project includes the construction of nine substations and related supporting facilities, with all substations having already been put into operation and just some of the households connection work still underway, the report says.
Work on the project began in October 2016 and is due to end in August, Xinhua says.
