The vice chairman of the Standing Committee of National People’s Congress of China, Cai Dafeng, has said his country and Brazil have agreed to strengthen their partnership, Xinhua reports.

The Chinese government-run news agency quotes Mr Cai Dafeng as saying so when he visited Brazil, from Sunday to Wednesday, at the invitation of the lower house of the Brazilian legislature.

The report says Mr Cai met with the presiding officer of the lower house, Rodrigo Maia, and co-hosted with the head of the Brazil-China parliamentary group, Lídice da Mata, the fourth meeting under the China-Brazil parliamentary exchange mechanism.

It quotes the visitor as saying the Chinese legislature is willing to keep up its exchanges with its Brazilian counterpart to strengthen the Sino-Brazilian partnership.

The Brazilian legislature is willing to cooperate more closely with its Chinese counterpart in matters to do with farming, infrastructure and technological innovation, among others, and so give the Sino-Brazilian relationship new vitality, Xinhua quotes Mr Cai’s hosts as saying.
