Mainland China and Mozambique have agreed to strengthen mutually beneficial co-operation after a meeting in Beijing yesterday, the government-run news agency Xinhua reports.

At a meeting between Yu Zhengsheng, the Chairman of the National Committee of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, and Verónica Macamo, President of the Mozambican Parliament, both parties agreed to continue to firmly support each other’s core interests and major concerns.

Ms Macamo hailed the Mainland’s long-term assistance to Mozambique and said her country was committed to expanding bilateral ties. She leads a five-day tour that ends on Friday.

Mr Yu was reported as saying that Beijing was willing to work with Mozambique to expand ties in several areas.
