Angola maintained its position as Africa’s biggest oil producer last month, according to the most recent monthly report from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries or OPEC.

Angola produced about 1.62 million barrels a day last month, down from the roughly 24,000 barrels a day it shipped in December.

Angola maintained its lead over its nearest competitor, Nigeria, which produced about 1.60 million barrels a day last month.

OPEC says Angola produced an average of 1.71 million barrels a day last year.
