The Sociedade de Jogos de Macau (SJM) and the Instituto Camões will renew, on the 22nd of March, their partnership in the area of promotion and teaching of the Portuguese language in mainland China, announced the Consulate General of Portugal in Macau.
Through a fund created by the SJM, which will be renewed for another four years, it reinforces its contribution to the appreciation of the Portuguese language as an international language in the People’s Republic of China, the consulate wrote in a statement.
With the first protocol signed in 2019, said the note, the local gaming operator became a pioneering company, in this region of the world, of the Portuguese Language Promoting Company status program.
By funding a project to promote and teach Portuguese as a Foreign Language (PLE) in Beijing, managed by the Instituto Português do Oriente (IPOR), as an entity representing Camões I.P. in this region, SJM became the first company to hold this status in Asia.
