Chinese Premier Li Keqiang’s recent visit to four countries in Latin America, including Brazil, ushers a new era for bilateral co-operation, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said, quoted by China’s official news agency Xinhua.

Mr Li’s tour concluded this week. The four-nation trip also took him to Chile, Colombia and Peru.

Mr Wang said Mr Li’s visit highlighted co-operation in several fields, including production capacity, finance, infrastructure and people-to-people exchanges.

The visit, Mr Wang said, helped bring China’s high-quality production capacity and equipment to Latin America, which will benefit economic and trade ties.

Some of the high-quality production capacity transferred from China to Latin America was initially developed by other countries, Mr Wang said, citing production of vital spare parts for Brazil’s subway cars and ferries as examples.

In the face of the new international challenges, it is very important for China to engage in global co-operation, the official said.
