More than a dozen Angolan literary works already have a Mandarin version, as the result of the work of João Shang, a Chinese researcher at the Center for Economic and Social Development Studies in Africa (CEDESA), who has translated a total of 15 Angolan literary works since 2011. The works that can now be read in Mandarin include, for example, “Uanga” by Óscar Ribas, “A dívida da peixeira” and “Pano preto da velha Mabunda” by Jacinto de Lemos, among many others.

According to the researcher, this translation create possibilities to make Chinese people to know Angola through reading, as well as strengthening the attention of Chinese tourists and businesspeople to Angola.

The researcher also said that despite the difference in color and language, the Chinese and Angolans are able to relate to each other and establish friendship.
