On December 9, the Chinese company Midea officially inaugurated a home appliance factory in Pouso Alegre, in the south of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The factory received R$630 million in investments and is the Midea's first 100%-owned factory in Brazil.
The new factory has more than 70,000 m² of built area on a 170,000 m² site and will have the capacity to produce more than 1.3 million products a year, 700,000 of which will be refrigerators and 600,000 washing machines.
The factory will adopt innovative technologies, including automated processes and artificial intelligence to ensure high quality and efficiency in its production. The Chinese appliance company's factory is expected to generate 1,000 direct jobs by December 2025.
