On September 18, the rector of the State University of Pará (Uepa), Clay Chagas, received the Education Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Brazil, Wang Zhiwei.
The meeting highlighted the partnerships in various areas between Pará and China. At Uepa, the Confucius Institute, focused on teaching the Chinese language and culture, is the main reflection of this collaboration.
The counselor expressed satisfaction with the diplomatic relations between the two countries throughout this year. He emphasized that cooperation between China and Brazil is increasingly strong, and we need to work together in the educational area.
Among the proposals, Clay Chagas suggested the discussion of a cooperation agreement for the publication of a public notice between the university and the embassy, aiming to promote cultural and educational exchange between Brazil and China, with a special focus on the sustainable development of the Amazon region.
Relations between Pará and China, through Uepa and Shandong Normal University (SDNU), have been built since the implementation of the Confucius Institute at Uepa in 2016.
