The platform ship Almirante Tamandaré, built by the CMHI shipyard, left China on July 31, heading for the Búzios field. The FPSO-type platform will be the first high-capacity unit to be installed in the field, with the potential to produce up to 225 thousand barrels of oil per day (bpd) and process 12 million cubic meters of gas per day.

The FPSO Almirante Tamandaré is currently scheduled to enter into operation in 2025, according to the 2024-2028 strategic plan of Petrobras, operator of the Búzios field.

The FPSO Almirante Tamandaré has decarbonization technologies such as, for example, the closed flare, which, together with other equipment, reduces the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. There is also technology for using heat that eliminates the need for additional energy for the unit, as well as equipment for removing CO2 from the gas and subsequently injecting it into the reservoir.
