Hong Kong boosts financial technology in Portugal

Hong Kong's Secretary for Financial Services and Treasury, Christopher Hui, is visiting Portugal to promote advanced financial technology in the Chinese special administrative region. The visit, which also includes stops in the Netherlands and Spain, aims to reinforce Hong Kong's position as a global leader in the fintech area.


According to a statement from the Hong Kong authorities, the initiative aims to publicize Hong Kong's dynamic fintech scene and the latest innovations in the financial sector, with a special focus on building a sustainable Web3 ecosystem.


The Hong Kong secretary has bilateral meetings scheduled with government leaders from the three countries visited. In addition, Hui will participate in events and receptions in Amsterdam, Madrid and Lisbon, where he will meet with leaders from financial institutions and the business and fintech communities, before returning to Hong Kong on June 8th.
