After years of decline, Portuguese wine exports will see a double-digit increase in China in the first quarter of 2024, according to wine association ViniPortugal.

China purchased around 2 million euros worth of Portuguese wine in the first three months of 2024, an increase of 12 percent compared to the same period the previous year. Wine exports in the first quarter totaled 212 million euros, with 74 million liters sold at an average net price of 2.85 euros per liter.

“The role played by Portuguese wine exports in increasing Portugal’s visibility and reputation as a reference producer is undeniable,” said Frederico Falcão, president of ViniPortugal.
