Auren, owned by Votorantim Energia and Canada's CPPIB, and the Brazilian subsidiary of French group Engie are among the groups that have started to move to evaluate the possibility of acquiring AES Brasil, which has been put up for sale by American AES, sources told Mover.

China's CTG and Elera, owned by Canada's Brookfield, are also among potential interested parties looking at AES's assets in the country, the sources said.

AES Brasil, with a market value of R$6.4 billion, operates hydroelectric plants in São Paulo that used to belong to Cesp and were privatized in 1999, as well as wind farms and solar plants built and acquired later.

The sources said that there are still no official bids on the table for AES Brasil, and the moves around the transaction are at an early stage.
