Led by deputy director Wong Ka Ki, a delegation from the Directorate of Education and Youth Development Services (DSEDJ) was in Lisbon last week to take part in activities commemorating the Chinese New Year, the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Portugal and the 25th anniversary of the Macao SAR, as well as to strengthen exchanges with various educational institutions. The agenda included visits to the Coordinating Council of the Higher Polytechnic Institutes of Portugal and the Portuguese Catholic University, during which they discussed issues related to "optimizing the conditions for Macau students to continue their studies in Portugal and the training of qualified staff in the area of the Portuguese language".

According to DSEDJ, the program also included a meeting with representatives of Camões - Instituto da Cooperação e da Língua. The two sides exchanged views on the teaching and promotion of the Portuguese language in Macau, teacher training, the development of Portuguese language teaching materials and online Portuguese language learning courses, among other subjects.

During their stay in Lisbon, the delegation also made contact with Macao students studying in Portugal, in order to find out about their learning situation and life in general. Deputy Principal Wong Ka Ki took the opportunity to encourage the students to commit to their studies and to serve their country and society upon their return.
