Porto opens its doors to the Year of the Dragon with celebrations on February 2

Although the new Lunar Year begins on February 10, Chinese New Year celebrations begin on February 2 in the city of Porto.


“The afternoon is marked by a set of initiatives resulting from the cooperation between the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Portugal, associations representing the Chinese Community in Portugal and the Municipality of Porto," says the Chamber in a statement.


The program starts in the afternoon with a conference on the 45 years of diplomatic relations between the Portuguese Republic and the People's Republic of China in the atrium of the Porto City Council building.


Afterwards, there is a reception that will take place in the Noble Hall of the Town Hall and will feature interventions from the mayor of Porto, Rui Moreira, the ambassador of the People's Republic of China in Portugal, Zhao Bentang, and the president of the Chamber of Portugal-China SME Commerce, Y Ping Chow, among other personalities linked to the Chinese community.
