President Xi Jinping said an international conference on the Belt and Road initiative was positive, Xinhua reports.

The government-run news agency quotes Mr Xi as saying 68 countries or organisations have reached co-operation agreements with the Mainland.

The Belt and Road initiative is meant to strengthen economic links between the Mainland and the rest of Asia, Europe and Africa.

The report says Mr Xi urged countries to better co-ordinate their policies and co-operate more closely to achieve the goals of the initiative.

Another international conference on the Belt and Road initiative will be held in 2019, Xinhua says.
