The annual rate of consumer price inflation in Brazil slowed to 5.35 percent last month from 6.29 percent the month before, the Brasil news agency reports.

The news agency cites figures announced by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics.

Reuters reported this week that the Brazilian central bank will take measures intended to reduce interest rates.

The central bank has kept Brazilian interest rates among the highest in all the major economies, to curb inflation.
