Portugal’s annual unemployment rate last year was 11.1 percent, a decrease of 1.3 percentage points from 2015, Statistics Portugal announced last week.

The unemployment rate for the final quarter of last year was 10.5 percent, the statistics bureau said. The rate was unchanged from the previous quarter.

There were 543,200 Portuguese unemployed at the end of December, a reduction in the number of jobless by 6,300 people compared to the end of the third quarter.

The jobless rate in the fourth quarter was 1.7 percentage points lower than at the same time one year earlier.
