The Portuguese news agency Lusa and the online edition of Chinese-state run newspaper People’s Daily signed on Tuesday a co-operation agreement for the future exchange of news content and the launching of joint projects.
The agreement was signed in the Chinese capital, Beijing, on the sidelines of a forum organised by People’s Daily, Lusa reported. The forum, related to the “One Belt, One Road” initiative – proposed in 2013 by China’s President Xi Jinping to enhance trade across Asia, the Middle East, Europe and Africa through infrastructure development – gathered representatives from various media from around the world.
“Our contribution could be that of reporting about the ‘One Belt, One Road’ initiative in the countries where we are present: not only Portugal, but also [countries] in Africa and even in Asia,” said the President of Lusa’s Administrative Council, Teresa Marques. She noted the agency’s connection to Portuguese-speaking Countries and territories.
