Trade in merchandise between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries reached US$32.735 billion in the period from January to May 2016. It represented a 14.55 percent decline year-on-year, according to data from China Customs.

Portuguese-speaking Countries sold goods worth US$22.314 billion to China in the first five months of 2016 – an increase of 2.37 percent year-on-year. The value of China’s merchandise exports to those countries reached US$10.422 billion in the same period, down 36.89 percent year-on-year, according to Chinese official data.

The total value of merchandise traded in May between the parties topped US$8.398 billion, up by 10.36 percent from the previous month.

The value of China’s merchandise imports from Portuguese-speaking Countries reached US$6.136 billion, an increase of 15.89 percent month-to-month. China sold goods to those countries worth US$2.262 billion in May, down by 2.28 percent compared with the previous month.
