Trade in merchandise between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries reached US$24.337 billion in the period from January to April 2016. It represented a 17.99 percent decline year-on-year, according to data from China Customs.

Portuguese-speaking Countries sold goods worth US$16.178 billion to China in the first four months of 2016 – a drop of 0.53 percent year-on-year. The value of China’s merchandise exports to those countries reached US$8.160 billion in the same period, down 39.16 percent year-on-year, according to Chinese official data.

The total value of merchandise traded in April between the parties topped US$7.610 billion, up by 37.47 percent from the previous month.

The value of China’s merchandise imports from Portuguese-speaking Countries reached US$5.298 billion, an increase of 42.0 percent month-to-month. China sold goods to those countries worth US$2.315 billion in April, an increase of 28.13 percent compared with the previous month.
