Brazilian telecommunications companies hired the Chinese ZTT International Submarine Cable & System as a cable supplier for three more stretches of the North Conectado Amazonian River Fiber Project.

Norte Conectado was created by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of Brazil, aiming to expand the communications infrastructure in the Amazon region through an underwater fiber backbone, composed of eight stretches, called Infovias, along rivers in the Amazon basin.

ZTT International cables will be used to supply Infovias 2, 3 and 4, which will take broadband to 22 municipalities in the region. In total, ZTT will produce, test and deliver 2,345 km of submarine cables and 456 km of land cables.

All cables are scheduled to be delivered in the third quarter, according to ZTT. This is the longest non-repeater submarine fiber optic cable awarded to ZTT in the South American market.
