The Chinese community in Mozambique donated several tons of supplies for people affected by floods in the southern and center of Mozambique, announced the National Institute for Disaster Management (INGD).

In total, the Chinese community donated 50 tons of grain, 6,200 liters of cooking oil and other products (including food, clothing and blankets), said César Tembe, national director of the Division of Prevention and Mitigation of INGD.

The products will benefit victims affected by floods in the provinces of Gaza, Inhambane and Maputo, in the South, and Sofala, in the Center.

In Mozambique, the occurrence of floods is recurrent at this time of year, but even so, the rainfall has been above the expected: only in the week of the 6th to 12th of February, it rained almost three times the average of February, according to the National Institute of Meteorology (Inam).
