The Chinese business group, Huawei Technology, announced its intention to invest in São Tomé and Príncipe. The interest was expressed by the group’s representative for STP, Angola and Mozambique, Hoo Qiang, after an audience with the president of the National Assembly, Celmira Sacramento.
Hoo Qiang told the press that Huawei has interests in areas such as renewable energy, technical-computer training, telecommunications and others in the field of digital technology, but that the group’s priority is to help São Tomé and Príncipe solve the problem of electric power by means of solar panels.
The representative of the Chinese giant, one of the largest telecommunications and IT product companies in the world, attended in São Tomé and Príncipe the launch of the STP Digital project and the 13th CPLP Communications Forum and 15th ARCTEL General Assembly, recently held in the country.
