Fortaleza (Brazil) and Xiamen (China) signed a sister-city agreement on the 12th of May at the Paço Municipal. This means that the cities will create mechanisms for cultural, social and economic exchange and cooperation, focusing on social equality.
“We already have intentions to strengthen our social and cultural partnerships, but, above all, to take the opportunity to bring Xiamen’s development experiences to Fortaleza. Our city has been growing and we are currently the biggest GDP in the Northeast, so we also intend to take our experiences there”, comments councilman Gardel Rolim.
Xiamen is also a sister-city to another Brazilian city: Foz do Iguaçu (PR).
