EDP Renováveis (EDPR) has completed the construction of a 19 Megawatt-peak (MWp) distributed generation solar power project for self-consumption on the roof of a factory in China’s Anhui province, the company said in a statement on the 8th of May.
The project, whose construction began at the beginning of this year, was installed on the roof of a consumer electronics factory, has a long-term 20-year contract and is structured with 35,000 solar panels. According to the company, it will generate more than 22 Gigawatt-hours (GWh) of energy per year, which is equivalent to avoiding about 19,000 tons of carbon emissions.
“This project is part of the additional 150MWp of solar power installed capacity that EDPR wants to develop in China and the commitment to invest in distributed projects and large-scale solar plants in order to support the country’s goal of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2060,” the statement read.
