On the 17th of July, the rector of the Federal Institute of Paraíba, Mary Roberta Meira Marinho, fulfilled the first day of an institutional visit to China, where she held meetings at the Brazilian consulate and at Jiao Tong University where she reported the interest in establishing partnerships and participating in the development of the Bingo International Scientific Project.

BINGO is a radio telescope, the largest in Latin America, which will be installed in the Paraiba city of Aguiar, in the state’s hinterland, and which will map neutral hydrogen emissions in deep space. The equipment brings together efforts from educational and scientific institutions in Brazil, China and at least 10 other countries.

“We presented our interest in partnering with Jiao Tong University and in receiving students and professors, as well as in the development of the BINGO Project. It was a very important meeting because it puts IFPB on this route of knowledge,” said the dean.

The institutional mission ends on the 22nd of July in Hong Kong.
