The Germany's company, FlixBus, will operate the route between Porto and Lisbon with a 100% electric bus. The Chinese Yutong bus has a range of around 400 kilometers and will make two trips a day, one in each direction, seven days a week.
“It's essential that there are more and more partnerships between companies that want to contribute to sustainable mobility in Portugal,” said Carlos Moreira, EDP Comercial's director for mobility.
With the scheduled operation, this 100% electric bus will save at least 150 tons of carbon dioxide per year. “Although this programme is small in scale, it’s a historic step towards decarbonizing long-distance passenger transport in Portugal,” says Pablo Pastega, general manager of FlixBus in Portugal.
