The Portuguese Competition Authority (AdC) approved on August 2 the exclusive control by EDP Renováveis of 12 wind farms in Portugal, which it controlled together with China Three Gorges, with a total capacity of 422 MW (megawatts).
In a communiqué sent to the Portuguese market supervisor on December 29, 2023, EDP reported an agreement with two entities supported by China Three Gorges for the repurchase of 49% minority stakes in wind portfolios in the three countries( China, Poland and Italy), for 570 million euros.
“The AdC was concerned that the EDP Group could use wind farms to maximize its own profits, limiting energy production to increase prices in the system services market”, points out the regulator.
EDP committed to maximizing energy production and not using wind farms strategically to influence.
