China is now the world's biggest oil importer. According to data obtained exclusively by Cafezinho from Comtrade, the UN database, China imported a total of US$ 365.60 billion in oil, 92% of which was crude and 8% refined. 

The main suppliers of crude oil to China were Russia, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Malaysia. The highlight goes to Russia and Malaysia, whose crude oil exports to China grew by 15% and 31% respectively over the previous year.

However, among the main suppliers, Brazil was one of those that stood out the most, as its crude oil sales to China jumped 51% in 2023, compared to the previous year.

As a result, Brazil's share of total Chinese crude oil imports stood at almost 7%, an all-time high.
