An agreement to purchase Brazilian coffee worth five hundred million dollars was signed on June 5th in China by the president of ApexBrasil, Jorge Viana, and Guo Jinyi, CEO of Luckin Coffee, the largest Chinese coffee shop chain.

“This agreement not only represents a significant boost for Brazilian coffee exports but also opens up new opportunities in the Chinese market. In 2022, China imported 80 million dollars worth of Brazilian coffee, a figure that increased to 280 million in 2023. With this new contract, we expect an even greater increase in coffee consumption in China, which currently stands at 15 cups per inhabitant per year. But it can reach 200 glasses”, explained Viana.

This new opening of the Chinese market originates from a relationship that began at the "Exporta Mais Amazónia" event, an ApexBrasil program. In Cacoal, Rondônia, representatives from Luckin Coffee learned about local coffee producers and the history of Amazon Robusta.
