The Covilhã City Council is negotiating with a Chinese company, Hangzhou Huaguang Advanced Welding Materials, interested in creating a factory and a technology center in that Portuguese municipality, said the mayor's president, after a visit to China.

“We are already looking for land for them to start moving forward with a manufacturing unit,” said Vítor Pereira, quoted on March 4 by the public station Rádio Macau.

The mayor led a delegation from Covilhã that visited the headquarters of the Hangzhou Huaguang Advanced Welding Materials Group.

The group works in the area of microweaving and has as many workers as researchers, pointed out Vítor Pereira, who found it very interesting the importance they give to deepening knowledge, which the municipality wants to take advantage of.

The company sells products to more than 600 companies, such as the Japanese Panasonic, Mitsubishi and Hitachi and the German Siemens, in around 30 countries, including Portugal.
