The Precursor Committee of the Maritime Silk Road in the Amazon was in Barcarena to visit public facilities and meet with local managers. The visit began in the community of Ilha do Arapari and extended to other locations, including companies based in the municipality.
The delegation was welcomed by Mayor Renato Ogawa and Deputy Mayor Cristina Vilaça. The Chinese visited schools, the Commercial Complex and Caripi, where they had lunch. At the Maria Rosângela school, the mayor gave a brief explanation of the municipal administration.
The tour of Barcarena is part of the program of the Precursor Committee of the Maritime Silk Road in Amazonia, which aims to deepen cooperation and exchange relations between Brazil and China, with a view to future collaboration. The head of the Chinese delegation enjoyed the visit.
Mayor Renato Ogawa highlighted the importance of China as a trade partner and said that projects with the country should be carried out through coordination with the state government. Renato also defended the verticalization of the economy to generate more jobs and income in the city.
