Brazil's tyre imports increased by 28% in the first nine months of 2023, reaching US$1.4 billion, compared to the same period last year. According to data released by the Secretariat of Foreign Trade, China is one of the main countries exporting tyres to Brazil, with a 38% share and a volume of US$141 million.

Vietnam was just behind China, exporting a volume of US$95 million in the first nine months of 2023, accounting for 14%. Next came India (9%), the United States (7%) and Malaysia (6%).

Also according to the survey, the increase was driven mainly by the rise in demand, which saw a 36% growth in the volume of tyres imported by weight compared to the same period in 2022, reaching a level of 443,000 tonnes. Allied to strong demand, a slight 5.7% drop in prices may have contributed to the result.
