The University of Coimbra (UC), together with the University of Macau (UM), has set up a laboratory aimed at studying cognitive ageing and responding to the needs generated by increased life expectancy.
The partnership with Macau, which will include joint research projects and the exchange of researchers, generated a great deal of enthusiasm in the Faculty of Medicine at the UC, confessed the vice-rector, adding that brain science is a cutting-edge area of research at both the UM and the UC.
UM's vice-rector for Global Affairs, Rui Martins, revealed that the two institutions are also negotiating a proposal for a joint doctorate in the area of brain sciences, in association with the new laboratory.
